First season!

Staci and Joel ..... it looks like Beck's first season is over ... she had a great first year with over 40 retrieves of geese and ducks! Some of them over 150 yards in icy Lake Erie. We spent 11 hours in a blind on two different days with temps well below freezing and she never let up. What a dog!!

"Don't Bug Me" by Larry Beckstein

Larry Beckstein has painted another picure of our labs. Larry is a wildlife painter who lives in Greenville, PA. Each year we get together to take photos of the pups. Then he decides what he can use as subjects. I had to share this with you because he does such great work. I know that I told many of you about his work, but in case you have forgotten, I wanted to remind you about him again. As of today, he has done 6 paintings of our labradors. His work has been recognized by such organizations as White Tails Unlimited and Wild Wings (the art division of Cabela's).

This painting is based on a photograph that I took, so I am very flattered that he used it. (My photograph didn't have the lady bug in it.) He has painted one other photograph of mine called "Break Time," and now I am looking through my inventory to send him another idea or two.

Beck hesitated for only a moment then waded right in. We are taking her for a walk at Presque Isle today to show her where she will be working.

Dear Staci & Joel- Happy new year!
Samson is doing so well and has brought us so much joy. He is growing like a weed and we are enjoying many long walks in the snow. We can hardly take him into town, as we are stopped by everyone that passes by. I think he is the most popular dog around these days! He is already retrieving the ball and just yesterday -has learned to give his paw !

Staci and Joel.... you guys make really pretty pups! Beck is progressing so quickly I have to remind myself she is only 9 1/2 weeks. Sit, stay and come were a snap for her. Started her lead work at 9 weeks. She's getting it.

On the weekend of December 19th, Philadephia was buried by a snow storm. Kate, her husband Chris, and their girl Tank decided to enjoy all of the white fluffy stuff by embracing it with a romp in the snow. The photos that they captured during their outing are great. After getting Kate's permission, I wanted to post at least one photo. By the way, Tank was born in July of 2008. She definitely looks happy and healthy. She isn't even two years old yet! Kate and Chris adore Tank, and it shows! Thanks, guys!
